On 10 June 2021 H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsana, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Kingdom of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Ureerat Charoentoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) on the occasion of his assumption of duty. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the technical cooperation between the two countries and also exchanged views on potential areas of technical cooperation towards sustainable development in Mongolia at bilateral and trilateral levels. The Director-General of TICA reaffirmed the support on human resource development programmes through conducting training courses and study visits as well as providing master’s degree scholarship in an effective manner during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Both sides also stressed great importance attached to the on-going Royal Projects graciously initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, which have yielded fruitful results in Mongolia.  The Royal Initiatives include“the Royal Rainmaking Project” between the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation of the Kingdom of Thailand and the National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring of Mongolia, which the agencies concerned are determined to conclude the Joint Action Programme (JAP) for Technical Cooperation in Weather Modification at the earliest mutually convenient date, and “the School Lunch Model Programme”, where Thailand and Mongolia have jointly implemented in 5 schools located in 5 diferent districts in Mongolia.

The Director-General of TICA also informed the Mongolian Ambassador of TICA’s current development policies aiming to promptly curb challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and to prepare Thailand’s and our partners’ economies for the Post-COVID Era. Such development policies emphasize security and resilience in areas that Thailand has expertise, namely Health Security, Food Security, Job Security, Energy/ Environment Security and Sustainable Development based on the Application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP). Both sides agreed that cooperation under Thailand’s aforementioned policies and principle could potentially further address Mongolia’s development needs, especially in tourism, agriculture, and healthcare,  that can be discussed  and developed as part of the 2 year work plan (2021-2022) under bilateral development programmes.
