On June 16, 2022, Mr. Wattanawit Gajaseni, Deputy Director – General, acting Director – General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed H.E. Mrs. Tizita Mulugeta Yimam, the Ethiopian Ambassador to India and the non resident Ambassador to Thailand, and Mr. Ibrahim Hamo Deto, Second Secretary, on the occasion of visiting Thailand during June 13–17, 2022. The Director of the Development Promotion and Coordination Division and TICA staff also attended the meeting.

The Ambassador emphasized a long standing diplomatic relations between the two countries since 1961. Both sides discussed on future and possible development cooperation between Thailand and Ethiopia including TICA’s fellowships offer under the Annual International Training Course (AITC) and Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP) in 2023, and different forms of Thailand’s development assistance such as a dispatch of Thai experts or Thai volunteers under Friend From Thailand (FFT) programme. The Deputy Director-General also confirmed TICA-JICA’s Third Country Training Programme on Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability for CARD (Coalition for African Rice Development) member countries including Ethiopia, which would be organized by Kamphaengsaen Campus, Kasetsart University in September 2022.
