On 16th May 2023 at 15:30 hrs, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), on behalf of the Director-General of TICA, delivered Thailand’s Country Statement during the 79th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Agenda item 3: Special Body on Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok.

The Deputy Director-General stated that global situations are having adverse effects on development, widening the development gap between and within developing countries, making it harder to achieve LDC graduation status. TICA has actively engaged Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC), and Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) in all regions to support connectivity and their graduation journey and prepare their Smooth Transition Strategy.  TICA is helping LDCs by focusing on the 4 Human Securities Policy (Job,Health, Food, Environment and Energy), Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, and Bio-Circular Green Economy Model through capacity building and human resources development. Thailand is working with the UN to advocate for South-South and triangular cooperation (SSTC) and reaffirms the commitment to work with development partners to help LDCS achieve the SDGs and meet the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
