On 29 December 2021, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency, welcomed H.E. Mr. Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan, to the Kingdom of Thailand along with Mr. Kalden Dorji, Counsellor, on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duty at the Reception Room, Thailand International Cooperation Agency.

Both sides discussed development cooperation under Three Year Development Programme between Thailand and Bhutan in key areas including community development, public health, human resource development and Friends from Thailand (FFT). The Bhutanese Ambassador emphasized the needs to strengthen human resource development particularly in youth and sought the support from TICA both in short-term training courses and long-term scholarships.

The Director-General reiterated TICA’s readiness to support Bhutan in the areas in which Thailand has expertise and respond to the economic recovery through capacity building. On this occasion, the Director-General invited the Bhutanese Ambassador to attend the Global South-South Development (GSSD) Expo 2022, which will be co-hosted by UNOSSC and ESCAP in September 2022. The Director-General provided further information that the souvenirs prepared for the event will be products from Thailand – Bhutan community development project.

Bhutanese Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Thai government and confirmed that the footprint of Thailand’s development cooperation as implemented by TICA is now clearly visible in Bhutan.
