On 30 June 2021 H.E.Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of TICA attended the 8th Thailand – Vietnam Political Consultation Group (PCG). The meeting was co-chaired by H.E.Mr.Thani Thongpakdi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and H.E.Mr.Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

Both sides discussed wide-range of issues of mutual interests including development and technical cooperation between the two countries. They expressed their satisfaction with the bilateral development projects in Vietnam namely, the construction of artificial reef off the coast of Ca Mau, Thai language teaching programme in Vietnam’s universities and sustainable community development project based on the application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) in Thai Nguyen province. To build on the success of cooperation, both sides agreed to further expand the SEP community development project to Ben Tre Province.

Both sides also agreed to expedite the revision of MoU between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on Technical Cooperation, signed in 2004. 

The Vietnamese side appreciated capacity building and human resource development provided to Vietnam in form of training courses and scholarships. Both sides agreed to explore new areas of development cooperation which emphasize on security and resilience including health security, food security, job security, energy/environmental security and sustainable development based on SEP. The Vietnamese sides also suggested for experience sharing in the fields related to COVID-19, agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, tourism and smart cities.
