BANGKOK, THAILAND, August 10, 2021 -- Today, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA)  and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) expanded development cooperation between the Royal Thai Government  and the U.S. Government during a signing ceremony for a $5 million Strategic Partnership.  Through this partnership, TICA and USAID will jointly provide development assistance to other countries in Southeast Asia.

The ceremony was headlined by TICA Director-General Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh and USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia Mission Director Dr. Steven G. Olive,

"Today’s signing of the TICA-USAID Strategic Partnership signifies that development cooperation between Thailand and the United States is elevating to greater heights. This strategic partnership reflects the complementary relationship between U.S. and Thai development strategies, as evident in successful past projects here in Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia. Our two countries will further accelerate sustainable economic and social development throughout Asia, thereby contributing to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals.” said Mrs. Chareontoh.

"Over the past seven decades, our partnership with Thailand has grown to include a broad range of development programs. The $5 million Strategic Partnership is a reflection of the success of our relationship with Thailand. Our joint programs and accomplishments will help TICA and USAID provide aid to other countries in the region – and improve knowledge sharing between Thailand and our other partner countries in Asia,” said Dr. Olive.

This expanded partnership builds upon over 200-years of cooperation between Thailand and the United States across all sectors and will leverage TICA and USAID’s collective knowledge, experience and partnership to address today’s development challenges in the region.
