On 27 March 2025, Lieutenant Sorawud Preededilok, Minister attached to the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), warmly welcomed the Egyptian delegation on a study visit to Thailand focused on sericulture. The visit is taking place from 22 – 29 March 2025. Also in attendance were Ms. Chachsaran Lertkiattiwong, Director of International Development Cooperation Division, along with relevant TICA officials.

Lieutenant Sorawud expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s interest in learning and exchanging knowledge and experiences with Thailand in the field of sericulture. He highlighted that this cooperation aligns with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Egypt in 2024 and serves to further strengthen South–South cooperation. He also exchanged views with the Egyptian delegation on the Thailand–Egypt development cooperation.

This study visit is a project initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo and funded by TICA. It aims to exchange knowledge and best practices in the development of the sericulture sector, in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the “Decent Life” (Haya Karima) initiative, which focuses on poverty alleviation and rural livelihood development. The visiting delegation includes representatives from: The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation of Egypt, El Nidaa Foundation, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – Egypt.
