From 17 to 30 August 2026, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, organized the 2026 Annual International Training Course (AITC) on “Postharvest and Waste Utilization Technology of Fish.” The course brought together 19 participants from 11 countries, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, China, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Timor-Leste.

Throughout the training, participants gained knowledge through lectures, practical sessions, and study visits to aquaculture farms, fish markets, seafood processing facilities, food quality inspection and regulator and control agencies, and establishments specializing in the utilization of fish processing by-products. The study visits were conducted in Bangkok, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chon Buri, and Samut Sakhon, provided participants with opportunities to learn about Thailand’s processes and good practices in postharvest management, fish processing and food quality control, waste reduction, as well as product development and value addition using fish processing by-products.

The training also provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, share knowledge, and build international networks, with the aim of applying the knowledge and practices gained to their respective national contexts. These efforts are expected to contribute to strengthening food security, reducing postharvest losses and waste in the fisheries sector, and promoting sustainable fisheries development under the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy concept, while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
