On 1 September 2016, Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Deputy Director-General of TICA, presided over a workshop on the project planning of awareness and preparation for infectious diseases and emerging diseases along the boundary areas of Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar.
A workshop aims to define an objective and an outcome of activities, as well as achievable indicators in the Project Logical Framework in line with the guidelines of TICA’s implementation. A workshop was participated by officials from Ministry of Public Health, the Provincial Health Office, and TICA.
The project was initiated in the fiscal year of 2014 aimed at preventing and resolving outbreaks disease transboundary due to the increasing of cross-border migrations between Thailand and neighboring countries. The activities which have been implemented under the project include the establishment of the information center and website development in public health information between Thailand’s boundary provinces and neighboring countries, the capacity development of Surveillance and Rapid Response Team (SRRT), particularly public health volunteers in the village and the hospital surrounding border areas to take care the alien workers and to promote creation of cooperation network, including sharing the lessons learn in the fields of public health in the boundary provinces.
Furthermore, the project is introduced as a response to the diplomatic policy in public health and Global Health Strategy of Thailand, and also to support Thailand’s leading role in assisting the developing countries to achieve Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages).
