On 21 September 2016, Mrs. Jitkasem Tantasiri, Deputy Director-General of TICA attended the 5th Political Consultation meeting between Thailand and Egypt at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Arab Republic of Egypt. The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and H.E. Ambassador Mr. Yasser Murad, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of Egypt.
During the meeting, both sides discussed and exchanged their views on bilateral relations in regional and international issues based on their mutual interests, in the areas of political, security, economic, education, cultural, and development cooperation. As well as, the Artificial Reef Development in Southern Red Sea of Egypt project which Egypt side will coordinate relevant agency to submit further information to Thai expert.
In addition, Egypt side also interested in tourism and technology (IT) cooperation. Regarding the draft of MoU on Trilateral Cooperation between Thailand International Cooperation Agency and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, Egypt side had no objection to the Thai’s counter draft and hoped to sign the said MoU during the 3rd Thailand-Egypt Joint Committee Meeting, which will be held in the early of next year.
