On 30 July 2024 at 09.00 hrs., Ambassadors and permanent representatives of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to the United Nations in New York together with officials from relevant agencies participated in a study visit at the Central Women's Correctional Institution, Department of Corrections. On this occasion, Mrs. Arjaree Srisunakrua, Director of the Central Women's Correctional Institution, welcomed the group and gave an overview of the Correctional Institution's operations in implementing the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders, or the "Bangkok Rules” , which Thailand played a key role in spearheading its adoption in 2010.

Later, in the afternoon, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of SIDS visited Chak Daeng Temple, Samut Prakarn Province to observe a community waste management. They explored upcycling projects that converts waste materials into new products. The projects developed by Chak Daeng Temple in collaboration with PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, together with other private companies, academic institutes, and international organizations. The temple emphasized the importance of collaboration in environmental management across various sectors, including civil society, private sectors, and international organizations. On this occasion, the representatives commended the temple for its exemplary role in advancing community’s waste management and circular economy.
