On July 31, 2024, Mr. Wattanawit Gajaseni, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), received a courtesy visit from H.E. Major General Goitsileene Morake (Ret), the Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana to the Kingdom of Thailand (Residence in Tokyo) at Reception Room, TICA Office. Mr. Phairush Burapachaisri, Honorary Consul of Republic of Botswana to the Kingdom of Thailand, Ms. Chidchanok Malayawong, Director of the Development Promotion and Coordination Division and relevant officials were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing dynamic development cooperation between Thailand and Botswana. Over the past decade, nearly 100 Botswana officials have received Thai Government scholarships through TICA’s annual programme to participate in short-term trainings under the Annual International Training Course (AITC) and pursue postgraduate education in Thailand under the Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP).

On this occasion, both sides also explored ways to initiate development cooperation while Botswana is interested in receiving knowledge and technical skills transfer from Thailand in various sectors such as, education and health, food security, gem cutting, and tourism. Moreover, this cooperation can be implemented at the bilateral level, as well as trilateral level via the collboration between TICA and other development partners which already extended our support to Africa, such as Japan.
