On 22 April, 2025 Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony the Conference titled “Building Healthier Futures: 25 Years of Thai - Lao Collaboration in Medical and Public Health Capacity Building under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn” at Holiday Inn & Suites, Vientiane, the Lao People's Democratic Republic. On this occasion, Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director - General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) had an audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and participated in this conference.
The conference commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Thai-Lao Cooperation Project on Medical and Public Health Capacity Building under the Royal Initiative, as well as the 70th birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The event was jointly organized by the Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Projects, Mahidol University, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), the Royal Thai Embassy, Vientiane and the Ministry of Health of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Held during 22 - 23 April 2025, the conference provided a platform for participants to exchange knowledge and experiences in medicine and public health, to disseminate academic through seminars and exhibitions and to revitalize knowledge.
The initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn marked the beginning of Thai-Lao cooperation in the fields of medical and public health in the year 2000. Her Royal Highness recognized the importance of medical and public health as the key to a high - standard healthcare system, which is essential for ensuring good health for people of all ages. It is the foundation for improving quality of life and driving national development. Her Royal Highness graciously gave her royal consent for the Royal Initiative Project, Mahidol University, TICA under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to organize annual training programs in medical and public health technologies for Lao medical and public health in Thailand which have been held 27 training sessions and total of 1,171 participants. These training programs aim to continuously strengthen develop personnel, equip them with wider knowledge, and enable them to apply modern medical and public health technologies in their works. In addition to the training programs, Her Royal Highness has also advised dispatching instructors to Lao PDR. to follow up and evaluate the training outcomes. These efforts ensure that any challenges or obstacles encountered during the implementation can be addressed, and the training curriculum can be reviewed for greater effectiveness.
