On 15 May 2025, Dr. Nana Kuenkel, Cluster Coordinator – Agriculture and Food Cluster and Thai Rice GCF Project Director of GIZ Thailand, together with GIZ officials, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of TICA, and relevant TICA officials were also present at the meeting room 1, TICA office.

On this occasion, Dr. Kuenkel provided an overview of agricultural and food development projects implemented by GIZ in Thailand and reported on the progress of the “Strengthening Climate-Smart Rice Farming” (Thai Rice GCF) project. This project aims to promote the transformation of rice farming methods in Thailand towards reducing methane emissions, which is a cause of greenhouse gases, and to enhance the capacity to adapt agricultural processes to climate change.

Both sides also discussed the possibility of scaling up the outcomes of agricultural projects to multiply positive impacts on air quality improvement in this sub-region.
