On 23 May 2024, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General ,Acting Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), attend the opening speech ceremony of Study Visit to Thailand Pollution Control Department within TICA – USAID: Transboundary Air Quality Management Project at Pollution Control Department with Ms. Linda McElroy, Deputy Mission Director from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/ RDMA), Ms. Preeyaporn Suwannakes, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department, Mr. Hans Guttman, Executive Director, Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and Mr. Lianexay Bounmanivanh, Director General, from the Natural Resources and Environmental Research Institute (NRERI).

This Study Visit activity was organized between 22 - 29 May 2024 with representatives from the Natural Resources and Environmental Research Institute (NRERI), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Public Health, Lao PDR, totaling 20 people. The objective provided information on strategies for managing air pollution problems between the Thai - Lao PDR border. The Lao PDR Department will be able to get the most out of advantage of technology and understand the monitoring and enforcement mechanisms implemented by the Pollution Control Department, which works with many sectors. Additionally, the cooperation with the state agencies, educational institutions and the private agencies to explore the application of satellite technology in managing air pollution problems through a visit to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA).
