Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), participated as an observer in the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), OECD, Peer Review of Australia during 16 - 20 June 2025 in Canberra, Australia.

The 2025 OECD DAC Peer Review of Australia was a continuation of the process to track progress in Australia's development cooperation efforts since the last peer review in 2018. This year's review assessed Australia's comprehensive development cooperation at both the policy and implementation levels, aiming to improve the overall quality, effectiveness, and delivery of impactful outcomes.

On this occasion, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) hosted a reception at the Parliament House to welcome the peer review team comprising representatives from the OECD, Finland and Ireland (as reviewers), as well as Thailand (as an observer). Mr. Jamie Isbister, Acting Deputy Secretary for the Development, Multilateral and Europe Group of DFAT, delivered welcome remarks highlighting the significance of the peer review process, and recognized Thailand as a long-standing development partner of Australia. Deputy Director-General Hiam expressed appreciation to DFAT for the invitation, stating that Thailand's observer role would strengthen cooperation with Australia and the OECD and support the country's pathway towards DAC membership.

During the peer review in Canberra, the review team engaged in constructive discussions and dialogues with DFAT high-level officials, governments, the private sector, civil society, and multinational organizations. These discussions focused on Australia's development landscape, best practices, and emerging challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. At the end of the review, the team presented preliminary impressions to DFAT before visiting Dili, Timor-Leste, from 23 to 27 June 2025, to examine Australia's implementation of development programs on the ground. A final report with recommendations will be subsequently presented to the Australian government.
