On 25 June 2567 at 14:00 hours, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed Ms. Kathryn Clarkson, Head of Country Cluster Delegation for Cambodia, Laos PDR, Thailand, and Vietnam of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), along with IFRC staff members.
The Deputy Director-General of TICA informed the IFRC delegations of TICA's development cooperation policy anchoring around four key human security areas namely: employment, food, health, and energy and the environment, which Thailand engages with partner countries in the Global South, particularly neighboring countries, ASEAN Member States, and various regions such as South Pacific, South Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Ms. Clarkson also shared that IFRC supports member countries in capacity building, fundraising, and humanitarian assistance in response to non-conflict situations such as natural disasters, public health, vaccination, and epidemic prevention measures.
Both sides agreed that there are common areas of priorities that both sides can explore opportunities for cooperation in the near future including (1) managing the impacts of climate change, particularly PM2.5, (2) strengthening youth/volunteer networks, and (3) cooperating on public health development along Thailand’s borders with neighboring countries.
