Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), together with Mr. Narat Rujirat, Executive Director of Electrical and Electronics Institute (EEI), welcomed Korean experts from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) visiting Thailand during 22-26 January 2024 to discuss the implementation of the project entitled “Eco-friendly Design and Refrigerant Processing Capacity Building Project for Carbon Reduction in ASEAN” and to inspect the project sites. This project is under the Co-forming Project scheme and is a cooperation between Thailand, the Republic of Korea and EEI as a Thai implementing agency. Also presented at the discussion were Ms. Jun Youngsuk, Country Director, KOICA Thailand Office.

The Korean experts had a meeting with Thai stakeholders, including the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), industrial factories, and Suankaew Foundation. The experts had the opportunity to learn about the electronical industries and survey their needs in order to formulate the project suiting their needs.

This 5-year Co-forming Project scheme will commence in 2025, with the objective of promoting green and sustainable electronical industry, starting with Eco-Design products which has the lowest impact on the environment, electronic wastes management, and raising awareness of civil society in choosing eco-friendly electronic goods. Learning from best practice of the Republic of Korea’s industrial sector, Thai industry will be more developed sustainably.
