On 10 November 2023, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), attended and delivered remarks at KOICA Partner Organization Workshop organized by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Thailand Office, at The Westin Grande Sukhumvit Hotel. The workshop was hosted by Ms. Jun Youngsuk, Country Director of KOICA, Thailand Office, and attended by representatives from TICA, host universities/ vocational colleges, and Korean Overseas Volunteers working in Thailand.

The Deputy Director-General of TICA emphasized the importance of development partnership between Thailand and South Korea which has existed for more than 35 years through various types of activities. TICA stands ready to work closely with KOICA to promote closer people-to-people ties between the two countries and ensure the achievement of sustainable development in the Mekong Sub-region.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the working relationship between KOICA, Thailand Office, TICA and Thai educational institutions. Furthermore, it provided an opportunity for participants to share views, experiences and good practices which will contribute to the effective implementation of KOICA – Volunteers programme in Thailand.

The Deputy Director-General Arunee Hiam and Ms. Jun Youngsuk also had a discussion on the future direction of development cooperation between Thailand and South Korea, updates on the proposals for Co-forming Projects to be implemented in 2025, dispatch of long-term Korean advisors under the World Friends Korea (WFK) who will work in the Thai agencies, and expansion of collaboration under the Fourth Action Plan between TICA and KOICA on the Joint Cooperation (2023-2025), and way forward.
