During 12-13 July 2024, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), attended the Second High-level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development hosted by China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) at Beijing Friendship Hotel, the People's Republic of China.
Under the theme “Promoting Sustainable Development: Continuous Actions for a Better Future”, the aim of this high-level conference was to seek strategies and mechanisms to collectively accelerate the achievement of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), established by the Government of China to support the SDGs. The Conference consisted of 5 Parallel Forums; 1. Joining Hands to Build a Modernized Global South; 2. Innovative Approaches to Accelerating Sustainable Development for a Better Future; 3. Energy Transition; 4. Engagement of Multi-Stakeholders in International Development Cooperation; and 5. Global Youth Responsibilities in the Digital Era. High-Level Representatives from 160 countries and International and regional organisations attended the Conference, with up to 300 participants in total.
The Depity Director-General of TICA took this opportunity to have a bilateral discussion with CIDCA’s high-level representatives, including Mr. Zhao Fengtao, Vice Chairman, and Mr. Guan Zhiyong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, on drafting the Joint Action Plan for cooperation under the MOU on Human Resource Development Cooperation between TICA and CIDCA signed on 23 April 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangkok.
Furthermore, during the Conference, she met and discussed on further development cooperation with other development partners and TICA’s counterparts, e.g. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), Mekong Institute (MI), and the Rockefeller Foundation, etc.
