On 16 October 2023, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), delivered welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony of Capacity Building for Sustainable Future in Developing Regions Networking at Mahidol University.

In her remarks, the Deputy Director-General reaffirmed the commitment of TICA to fulfill the UN global agenda, Sustainable Development Goals, by 2023. She emphasized the Agency’s development cooperation priority which was to strengthen human security in the areas of food security, job security, health security and environmental and energy security. Therefore, TICA strongly support the project as it is in line with TICA’s mission and Sustainable Development Goal 3 (good health and well-being). The Deputy-Director General also shared good practices of Thailand’s health-related practices including Universal Health Coverage which Thailand shared it to various countries including Kenya.

The purpose of Capacity Building for Sustainable Future in Developing Regions is to strengthen capability of medical professionals in Southeast Asia and South Asia, in the fields of pregnancy, nutrition and medical technology. After the networking event, the participants are able to share knowledge to others involved, and thus establish the Community of Practice. The networking event is part of Capacity Building for Sustainable Future in Developing Regions, the initative between TICA as well as Madihol University and Rockefeller Foundation.
