On 18 July 2024, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), led Ms. Jun Youngsuk, Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Thailand, and their delegation to visit the International Institute for Skill Development located in Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province.  Mr. Chaturapat Ngienmoon, Director of International Institute for Skill Development, together with staff at the Institute, welcomed the delegation.

During the visit, the three parties discussed possibility for a trilateral project on skill development training for labours from Thailand and countries in the Mekong Sub-region in areas that are in high demand in the labour market and of mutual interest, such as the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry, Welding, Shipbuilding, and Information Technology. Through sharing of expertise between Thailand and the South Korea and utilizing the International Institute for Skill Development as a training venue, this trilateral project aims to promote sustainable socio-economic development in the Mekong Sub-region. This initiative is expected to be launched by 2026.
