On 4–5 March 2026, Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and head of the Thai delegation, co-chaired the 12th Thailand–Singapore Technical Cooperation Meeting (TCM) with Jolene Tan, Director-General of the Development Partnerships Directorate (DPD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore.
The meeting is convened annually, with Thailand and Singapore serving as alternate chair. Its objectives are to review the implementation of trilateral cooperation under the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) and to discuss the work plan for the coming year. This year, both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening impact evaluation to further enhance the effectiveness of training programmes. The Singapore side emphasized that Thailand is the only development partner country in Southeast Asia for the TCTP and expressed its appreciation for Thailand’s longstanding partnership. Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of Thailand–Singapore trilateral cooperation , demonstrating the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening institutional capacity building and human resource development as key drivers of sustainable development.
On this occasion, the Singapore side arranged site visits for the Thai delegation to observe Singapore’s smart city development at the Punggol Digital District. The district integrates digital technologies and innovation to enhance smart living solutions, including advanced applications in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, blockchain, and fintech. The Thai delegation also visited the Woodlands Checkpoint, one of Singapore’s major immigration checkpoints at the border between Singapore and Malaysia. Advanced technologies such as automated clearance lanes, biometric verification, and QR code systems are employed to enhance efficiency and manage the high volume of cross-border traffic.
In 2027, Thailand will host the 13th Thailand–Singapore Technical Cooperation Meeting and co-organise commemorative activities with Singapore to mark the 30th anniversary of Thailand–Singapore trilateral cooperation under the TCTP.
