On 7 February 2022, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) met with Dr. Pakorn Apaphant, Executive Director of Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) at TICA. Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of TICA, Mr. Tatiya Chuentragun, Deputy Executive Director of GISTDA and related representatives from TICA and GISTDA also presented at the Meeting.
Both sides exchanged experiences on the international development cooperation with other countries and international organisations. Currently, GISTDA with support of TICA is implementing “the Advancing Coopeation in Space Technology and Geo-Informatic Project” under the Action Plan of Development Cooperation Programme between Thailand and Peru (2021-2023). Activities under the project include knowledge and experience sharing as well as developing feasibility study for a Satellite Data Image Processing System in Peru.
They agreed to explore possibility to strengthen TICA – GISTDA’s technical cooperation in the area of outer space and satellite technology with potential countries and development partners bilaterally and trilaterally such as Australia and New Zealand.
They also discussed the possibiltiy of future cooperation in Human Resource Development (HRD) in the areas which GISTDA has expertise by co-funding the long-term scholarships and short-term fellowships under ACMECS cooperation framework in order to support the regional efforts to reduce development gaps in ASEAN.
