On 20 November 2025, Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) welcomed Mr. Suriyan Vitchitlekarn, Executive Director of Mekong Institute (MI), on the occasion of his courtesy call at TICA. In attendance was Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General and related officer.

In this occasion, MI Executive Director thanked TICA for its role as a co-founder of MI along with the Government of New Zealand, and for the continued annual contributions. The MI Executive Director also proposed future collaboration modality of utilizing sub-regional mechanisms to move forward South-South and Triangular development cooperation. This cooperation framework is an integral part of the new 5-year (2026-2030) Mekong Institute Strategic Plan. Furthermore, MI seeks TICA’s support to co-host MI’s 30^th Anniversary in July 2026. Also, TICA’s Director-General extended an invitation to MI to participate in the Asia Pacific Directors-General Forum, an important platform where MI could meet new development partner countries.
