On 29 May 2024, Mrs. Charintip Yosthasan, Director of International Development Cooperation Division, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and related officers met with executives and staffs from the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, to discuss ways in propelling the Project on Capacity Building for Lecturers of University of Health Sciences, which is one of the projects under 3-year Development Cooperation Programme on Public Health (2023 – 2025). In the same occasion, Mrs. Charinthip also met with 8 scholarship holders from Lao PDR who are currently attending the Residency Training Program in Clinical Specialities. Their fields of study comprises of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Family Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Surgery, Emergency Medicine and Anestesiology.

This projects aims to develop the capacity of Laos medical personnel in becoming future lecturers of the University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR. It is also carried out with a view to providing healthcare services to the Laos population at large as well as to sustainably become the centre for medical trainings in Lao PDR.
