On July 12, 2024, Mrs. Charintip Yosthasan, Director of International Development Cooperation Division, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a constructive meeting and exchanges with Mr. Theng Chhorvirith, Deputy Director-General, General Department of Social Services, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) of Cambodia, along with the Cambodian delegations, at the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, on the progress and ways to further enhance the operation of the Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and other Vulnerable Group in Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia. Mrs. Uraiwan Courtaud, Counsellor, and related officers from International Development Cooperation Division, also shared reports of the recent visit of representative of TICA at the Center in order to further discuss future working plans for the Center in which the Thai government has jointly established and officially opened on 18th December 2023.
Both sides exchanged information on progress of current training projects and report on challenges of works that the Center have encountered in order to further improve the quality of management of the Center. Both sides also recognized the importance to further enhance skills for local officers as well as to expand the scope of training courses in respond to the diverse needs of victims of trafficking and other vulnerable group. On this occasion, Mr. Theng Chhorvirith expressed appreciation to the Thai side for the supports on the establishment of the Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and other Vulnerable Group in Banteay Meanchey Province and reiterates Cambodia’s readiness to jointly work with the Thai side in improving the operation management of the Center and provide essential training courses for the Center’s officers.
In addition, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) is also in discussion with development partners to plan necessary skill-trainings program for working officers of the Center, especially in the field of supports for victim and victim protections for which Mr. Tajima Toma, Officer from Governance and Peacebuilding Department, and officers from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)/Cambodia also participated in this meeting.
