During 24–26 August 2026, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, organized activities under the Project on Inclusive Education Training to Benefit Special Needs Children (Children with Disabilities) in Yangon, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The event was attended by school administrators and teachers from 14 target schools in Yangon, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education of Myanmar.

This project is implemented under the Three-Year Thailand–Myanmar Development Cooperation Plan. It aims to enhance the capacity of school principals and educators from the 14 target schools in Yangon in managing inclusive classrooms, integrating students with special needs, and applying educational technology to foster equal access to learning.

The activity aimed to monitor, supervise, review, and showcase achievements in inclusive education. Thai experts, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Education of Myanmar, reviewed progress made under the project, providing a platform for participating school administrators and teachers to share field experiences, key challenges, and practical recommendations to guide planning for the next phase.

At the closing ceremony held on 26 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Tor Saralamba, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, presented three Master's degree scholarships in Education from Chiang Mai Rajabhat University to Myanmar teachers, as well as handed over essential teaching equipment. U Toe Win, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Basic Education, and U Myo Win Aung, Deputy Director-General of the Yangon Region Education Office, also attended the ceremony.

This initiative contributes to the advancement of development cooperation in education between Thailand and Myanmar by strengthening teacher capacity, sharing expertise in inclusive education, and expanding educational opportunities for children with special needs. Through these efforts, the project contributes to sustainable development in both countries. It also reaffirms Thailand’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
