Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University, organized the Annual International Training Course (AITC) 2025 on “Oral Health Care in Primary Care Settings”,
held from 21 to 28 April 2025. The training aimed to share integrated knowledge and skills in dentistry, with focusing on the people-centered care approach and multi-professional team collaboration. The program was conducted on-site and attended by 21 participants from
13 countries, namely Algeria, Bhutan, Egypt, Fiji, Ghana, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Myanmar, Nepal, and Thailand.
The outset of the course aimed the participants to gain in-depth knowledge and best practices in dentistry, with a focus on integrating oral health services into primary health care systems and applying the knowledge to upscale dental services in their respective countries. The key topics are included Thailand’s health and oral health system, the principles of people-centred care approach, community-based oral health promotion, and the role of multi-professional teams. The training also featured practical sessions, knowledge exchange activities, and study visits at Wiang Nong Long Hospital and Ban Hong Hospital in Lamphun Province, as well as Don Kaew Community Hospital and Nong Pa Khrang Community Hospital in Chiang Mai Province.
This course is part of the AITC program initiated by TICA, which aims to promote the sharing of Thailand’s knowledge and experiences with the international community. It aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports South-South cooperation among developing countries.
