On 26 August 2022 at TICA, Government Complex, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Angela Macdonald, Australian Ambassador to Thailand, signed the Exchange of Notes for the Project on Expanding Transport Cooperation through Partnerships for Infrastructure and the Ministry of Transport (P4I-MOT). Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of TICA, representatives from the Ministry of Transport and the Australian Embassy also attended the signing ceremony.

The signing of the Exchange of Notes for P4I-MOT is an important milestone in strengthening Thailand –Australia development cooperation under the 1989 Agreement on Development Cooperation between Thailand and Australia and the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Thailand and Australia signed in November 2020 by the Prime Ministers of both countries.

The P4I-MOT project is part of an implementation of Australia's initiative on Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I) in Thailand and the Greater Mekong Sub-region, ACMECS and ASEAN. The P4I initiative will contribute to policy development and capacity building in areas of transport infrastructure, human resource development, digital connectivity, and development of special economic zones, as well as ASEAN Connectivity through policy consultation, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing and networking.

The P4I – MOT focuses on the development of transport infrastructure policy and capacity building for relevant Thai agencies and personnel to promote sustainable transport infrastructure, especially with regard to the policy on electric buses (EV Bus) and electric vehicles for other public transport.
