On 21 August 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Ms. Siriluck Chienwong, Office-in-Charge for Country Director of UNFPA Thailand and Head of Office for United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand signed of the 5 Year Strategic Partnership (2022 – 2026) and the 2023 Annual Workplan Documents between Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Mrs. Gita Sabharwal, the United Nations Resident Coordinator witnessed the signing ceremony. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba and the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste also attended the event.
This 5 Year Stategic Partnership and 2023 Annual Workplan aim at strengthening adolescents and youth to exercise their rights to sexual and reproductive health, acquire family planning knowledge and skills as well as improve the gender-based violence supporting and responsive system by promoting South-South Triangular Cooperation, building on and expanding the success of UNFPA works in Thailand as well as sharing Thailand’s knowledge and experiences on demography and public health with other developing countries. The signing of the said two documents is a reflection of the strong and enduring partnership between TICA and UNFPA which exemplifies and reinforces both sides’ commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Thailand 2022 to 2026.
