On 14 August 2024, Mr. Wattanawit Gajaseni, Director-General, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Ms. Buppa Reungsud, Director – General of Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labour delivered welcome address in the opening ceremony of the skills development workshop under the Project on the Establishment of the Cambodian – Thai Skill Development Center in Poun Phnom, Cambodia from 14 - 26 August 2024, at Samut Prakan Institute for Skill Development.

There were 19 participants for this workshop comprised of 17 instructors from the Cambodian – Thai Skills Development Institute and 2 representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training of Cambodia. The workshop topics were electrical engineering, automotive engineering (fuel-powered engines), and air conditioning. Apart from training session in the classroom, the participants are provided with an opportunity to visit the Manufacturing Automation and Robotics Academy (MARA) and DENSO Training Academy, Chonburi Province in order to upskill the instructors and share knowledge on teaching techniques through the “Train the Trainers” approach.

This project is a part of the development cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia in the field of skills development, which has been carried on for 27 years in various forms, such as construction of buildings, equipment and materials support for training, as well as human resource development for the institute's personnel.
