On July 8 - 12, 2024, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, lead a team of experts from the National Food Institute and the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (ISMED) visited and discussed with relevant agencies and entrepreneurs of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Myanmar to support the Development of Micro Enterprise Project in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Also, there are representatives from the Small Scale Industries Department of Myanmar (SSID).
The objective of this mission is to survey and assess the potential of entrepreneurs and
the market. Particularly, market demand and production standards in Food entrepreneurs namely: 1) Green Gold 2) Minn Mahar Food Manufacturing 3) Saw Nay La and 4) K-farm, who produce products such as products from bamboo (boiled bamboo packed in bags and dried pickled bamboo shoots), produces saffron jam, processed mango (mango juice mango chips pickled mango), crispy dried chili and produces fried kimchi and chili sauce. For the Non-food entrepreneurs namely: 1) Nay Pyi Taw Pone Yate Thit Laser carving & modern furniture 2) Chan Jade Myittar jewelry and 3) Alinkar souvenirs, who produce products such as handicrafts and furniture made from bamboo, engraving rubberwood, finger wood and plywood by using laser engraving technique, jewelry from jade and sculptures from tree roots. These are 7 pilot entrepreneurs (SMEs) under this project in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw.
Furthermore, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) will cooperate with the National Food Institute and ISMED to organize activities and visits for Myanmar entrepreneurs for exchanging knowledge and experience about products development to gain international standards for both Food and Non-Food to increase their knowledge and technique and also up their skills in product development such as, in extending product lifespan, product packaging, upgrading the production standards for domestic and international market.
