Thailand - Peru notch up cooperation on Community - Based Tourism

Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Mahidol University International College (MUIC) in collaboration with the Peruvian Agencies led by the Peruvian International Cooperation Agency (APCI) and Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) jointly held the Thailand - Peru Training Programme on Community-Based Tourism (CBT) during 9, 13 and 16 June 2021. The training was attended by 25 participants from tourism entities in Peru. The participants actively exchanged views and made thoughtful contributions to the training.

Experts from Thailand shared key knowledge and elements of CBT in Thailand covering important topics, including best practices, government roles and responsibilities, as well as gastronomy tourism : Storytelling and value added tools.

The Training Programme is under the Project of Sustainable Development of Tourism with Community Involvement - Phase II within the framework of the 3 - year Development Programme between Thailand and Peru (2020 - 2022). The Peruvian participants hope to adapt what they have learned to the Peruvian context in order to prepare for the field visit in Thailand which will be organized when the situation permits.
