Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI) organised the first medical webinar between Thailand and Peru under the Thailand-Peru Development Cooperation Programme 2021-2023.

On May 12, 2021, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency, together with Mr. José Antonio Gonzales Norris, Executive Director of Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation, and Dr. José Luis Seminario Carrasco, Director of the National School of Public Health (ENSAP), gave the opening remarks for the first Medical Webinar on "COVID-19 Clinical Case Management, Infection Control and Field Hospital Development" with Dr. Narumol Sawanpanyalert, Chief of Medical Emergency Response Unit, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, as the speaker to convey knowledge and experiences on Thailand’s clinical management on COVID-19.

This activity is organised as part of the Thailand-Peru Development Cooperation Programme 2021-2023, in which both sides agreed to work together in the field of public health to exchange knowledge and experiences in the prevention, surveillance and treatment of COVID-19 through a series of webinars throughout 2021.

With over 240 healthcare professionals in attendance, the webinar was actively participated by Peruvians healthcare professionals with substantive questions for the speaker on a variety of issues, such as the drug use guidelines for COVID-19 patients, hospitel management, COVID-19 reinfection, vaccination, healthcare workers management, disinfection and infection control, herd immunity, mortality in young patients, dental health treatment during COVID-19, asymptomatic patients care, COVID-19 test kits, CT-scan, patient registration and database management, and so on.

During the webinar, the Peruvian side also shared their experiences on the COVID-19 management, as well as the challenges and difficulties encountered during the process. The Peruvian side expressed gratitude to the Thai side for arranging this webinar and also requested that another be scheduled in due course.
