On 13th December, 2021, at 14.30 hrs., Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency, together with Mr. Nhek Vannara, Secretary of State, Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY), co-chaired the 2nd Project Steering Committee (PSC) for the Development Project on the Establishment of the Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Group at Poipet, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia.

The significant outcomes of the meeting include the updates of the progress of project implementation of both Thai and Cambodian sides, as well as, the mutual direction to push forward the activities in each work plan, namely the preparation for the construction of the center, the capacity building for the Reception Center’s personnel and vocational trainers / teachers who will provide training for victims of human trafficking and other vulnerable groups. Through the vocational training programs that will be offered at the Reception Center, victims of human trafficking and other vulnerable groups could acquire necessary vocational skills that can help preventing them from entering the human trafficking cycle.

The Establishment of Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Group will be Cambodia's first trafficking victims reception center that will provide all-inclusive services including mental and psychological rehabilitation of the victims and provision for vocational training and skills development programs that will help creating jobs and income-generating activities once they return to their homes.
