On 12 December 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, The Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) met with H.E. Mr. Gustavo Alberto Martino, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Thailand. Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of TICA; Ms. Chidchanok Malayawong, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division, as well as relevant staff from TICA and the Embassy of Argentina to Thailand also attended the meeting at Meeting Room 2, TICA Office.

Both sides welcomed the outcomes of the development cooperation projects under the Three-Year Development Cooperation Programme between Thailand and Argentina during 2020 to 2022, which facilitated knowledge exchanges and best practices in various fields including application of research and technology in soybean and sugarcane cultivation and capacity building in forensic experts.

In this regard, both sides also discussed ways and areas of cooperation for the next Three-Year Development Cooperation Programme between 2024 to 2026, which may include existing areas of cooperation that can be further expanded as well as new areas of cooperation such as forensic science, livestock vaccine production, soil improvement, and biopharmaceuticals. Thailand and Argentina will also jointly expand knowledge sharing activities with the third countries, especially ASEAN Members and Timor-Leste.

Furthermore, the Director-General of TICA affirmed that Thailand is pleased to host the Fifth Thailand-Argentina Planning Committee Meeting on Technical Cooperation. Both sides have agreed to tentatively mark the meeting date at the later half of 2024.
