On 18 May 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), presided over the opening ceremony of the Capacity Development Programme for Bhutanese Officers, which is part of the project on Sustainable Community Development Model Based on the Application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for the One Gewog One Product Villages in Bhutan (OGOP Model II). On this occasion, the Director-General of TICA delivered her opening remarks virtually, together with Associate Professor Dr. Watcharapong Wattanakul, Vice President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University.

The training programme on “Improving OGOP Management System of the Queen’s Project Officers of Bhutan based on OTOP and SMEs Experiences in Thailand” aims to enhance the capabilities of five OGOP personnel from the Queen’s Project Office (QPO) in multiple fields such as project management, promotional marketing, and quality control of products. The aforementioned training programme takes place from 16 May to 14 June 2023 in Chiang Mai province.

At the opening ceremony, the Director-General of TICA also took this opportunity to welcome the participants from the Kingdom of Bhutan, and to express her appreciation to Chiang Mai Rajabhat University which serves as the implementing agency. In addition, the participants are expected to make use of the knowledge gained from the training programme upon their return to Bhutan. They will, thus, become the driving force to advance and ensure the sustainability of the OGOP project thereafter.
