During 2–13 February 2026, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), organized the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) on “Enhancement of Sustainable Business Environment to Upgrade Investment Competitiveness for Mekong and South Asian Countries” under the framework of Thailand–Japan technical cooperation. The programme was implemented by the Office of the Board of Investment (BOI).

The training programme aimed to strengthen investment promotion capacities of countries in the Mekong subregion and South Asia by sharing Thailand’s experiences and best practices in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), while facilitating exchanges of views on regional economic trends and challenges. The course focused on strengthening policies and improving the business environment to support sustainable investment, while taking into account environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. It also aimed to enhance competitiveness, narrow development gaps, and contribute to the achievement of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), and the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).

The programme brought together 17 participants from Myanmar, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. Throughout the training, participants engaged in lectures, interactive workshops, and site visits to key strategic areas in Bangkok, the Eastern region (Chonburi Province), and the Northern region (Chiang Mai, Lamphun, and Lampang Provinces). These activities provided insights into Thailand’s industrial development and regional investment opportunities, laying an important foundation for strengthening investment networks and expanding regional economic cooperation.
