The Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu, is implementing a project to promote knowledge and expertise in organic farming in Karnali Province, Nepal.

Under the project, TICA has deployed experts from the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, as the project implementer, to conduct training on basic organic farming practices for Nepali farmers and government officials.

In addition, TICA has invited a group of 15 participants, comprising government officials and farmers from Nepal, to attend a training programme in Thailand on post-harvest handling, processing, quality standard and organic certification. The training is being held from 13–17 July 2026 in Thailand.

On 13 July 2026, Ms. Chachsaran Lertkiattiwong, Director of the International Development Cooperation Division, TICA jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the programme with Mr. Kriengsak Chartpreedee, Director of the Postharvest and Processing Research and Development Division, Department of Agriculture.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Chachsaran emphasized the importance of human resource development as the foundation of all forms of development. She also highlighted the commitment of TICA and the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu to supporting the advancement of Nepal’s agricultural sector, particularly at the community level, covering the entire value chain from production to marketing. Furthermore, she expressed confidence that the participants would be able to adapt and apply the knowledge and experiences gained through the training to suit the context of their own country and contribute to the development of Nepal’s agricultural sector.
