On 7 May 2025, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) led Ms. Jolene Tan, Director-General of Technical Cooperation Directorate together with relevant officials, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, for the site visits on "Smart City: Smart Mobility and Environment" in Bangkok.
On this occasion, the Singaporean delegates experienced an electric boat ride along the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal from Thewarat Pier to Hua Lamphong Station Pier and learned that many aspects are in consideration of Bangkok for smart city development including but not limited to safe and inclusive community, connected boat-road-rail public transport from first mile to last mile, constructive waste management, as well as use of modern sensing technology in traffic light setting and water level and quality monitoring. The group also took a walk around Benchakitti Park, a forest park which can be a retention area in case of flood. Moreover, they visited the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to learn their food waste management including the use of food waste processors, of which the remainder can be used as soil amendment for agriculture.
