On 17th July 2014, Ms. Suchada Thaibunthao, Director-General of TICA, chaired the meeting to design the Hatchery of Red Tilapia Project for Mozambique with Mr. Adul Apinantara, Member of University Council, Ubon Ratchathani University, experts from Faculty of Agriculture, and staff concerned at TICA.
In the meeting, experts from Ubon Ratchathani University reported the progress of the project implemented during 2013-2014, including the handover of red tilapia to the Republic of Mozambique offered by the Thai side during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand, the field survey and data collecting in Mozambique, training courses on Hatchery of Red Tilapia for executives and staff from Mozambique in Thailand. All aforementioned projects were successful. In addition, experts proposed plans and activities for 2015-2016 and requested TICA to support the establishment of fish hatchery and a prototype learning center for hatchery of red tilapia in Mozambique as a training center for small-scale farmers in order to help them to increase their productivity and value of the red tilapia, and to support Master Scholarships in Aquaculture for officials of Aquaculture Development Institute of Mozambique who will work at the learning center.
