On 25th September 2014, Ms. Suchada Thaibunthao, Director-General of TICA, co-chaired with Mr. Vonexay Phangsumma, Deputy Lord of Huaphan Province of Lao PDR, in the groundbreaking ceremony of school building, which is development cooperation project of Thailand responded to Lao PDR‘s needs at Lao PDR.
The government of Thailand realized the importance of educational development of Lao PDR, thus the government supported budget for the construction. The project was initiated when Thai-Laos Friendship Association visited Huaphan Province to serve as a school for students in Viengxay and nearby cities. The Thai government by Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, supported budget to construct a double floor school building with 16 classrooms, a toilet building with six rooms, fence around the waterspout, as well as to landscape around building that cost of construction was 26.165 million baht or about 6,541 million kip. In addition, Thai supported 30 computers’ equipment with tables and chairs for the computer room. Thai-Laos Friendship Association also supported the science laboratory and training course scholarship on ‘Use and Repair of Computer” for high school teachers in Viengxay, as well as study visit programme about lunch project in Thai schools.
That cooperation will advantage for strengthening the schools and encouraging the development of education in remote areas of Lao PDR for rural students to have the opportunity to access to learn and to use tool of education as the same as urban students. Moreover, it will be a symbol of cooperation and promotion of strong relationship between Thailand and Lao PDR.
