Deputy Director-General of TICA attended the World Food Day celebration 2014 under theme Family Farming: “Feeding the world, caring for the earth”

On 15th October 2014, H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn proceeded to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) regional office for Asia and the Pacific, to open World Food Day celebration 2014 under theme Family Farming: “Feeding the world, caring for the earth”, and awarded five outstanding farmers from five countries which included China, India, Myanmar, New Zealand and Thailand.
 
On this occasion, Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Deputy Director-General of TICA, had an audience with the princess and attended the lecture from experts on International Year of Family Farming at the FAO regional office for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok.
 
World Food Day is annually celebrated to draw attention to over 800 million people who struggle against hunger and malnutrition. The United Nations has designated 2014 “International Year of Family Farming” which became the theme of this year namely “family farming - sustainable production – food security consumption” in order for international community to recognizes the important contribution of family farmers to world food security that have to produce sufficiently for a population of over 9,000 million by 2050.
