During 22 - 24 February 2016, Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Director - General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) led the Thai delegation and representatives from Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng saen campus to follow - up the Rice Production Improvement Project under Thailand - Japan Trilateral Cooperation for CARD countries in the Republic of Togo and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. This project was conducted by TICA and JICA to increase rice promotion for member countries of Coalition of African Rice Development (CARD) for 3 - year period (2014-2016).
On this occasion, the Director – General of TICA joined with the mission of the Special Envoy for Thailand’s Candidature for UNSC 2017 - 2018 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely Mr. Thana Duangratana, Special Envoy, Mr. Wijak Chittarat, Ambassador of Royal Thai Embassy to Dakar, Senegal and relevant agencies to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Faure GNASSINGBÉ, President of the Republic of Togo, H.E. Colonel Ouro – Koura Tchagara AGADAZI, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock Farming and Fishing and Director of cabinet, Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Togo.
In addition, the Thai delegation surveyed rice fields proposed by Togo for demonstration plots and irrigation system at Mission Tové, also discussed with Minister of Agriculture, Livestock Farming and Fishing, the Republic of Togo, regarding the outcomes of the monitoring and evaluation mission, included a future plan on Rice Production training for CARD (Francophone) Countries in the middle year of 2015 and 2016.
Furthermore, the Director – General of TICA and Thai delegation also visited in Zone Tiassalé, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, along with the former trainees at technician level and policymaker level, as well as discussed with Mr. Zie Coulibaly, Vice President, and agricultural cooperatives members concerning problems and obstacles occurred in farming in this area. During the visit, the Director – General of TICA joined with the Special Envoy from Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Abdallah Albert Toikeusse MABRI, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire for a discussion on Thailand’s candidature for UNSC 2017 – 2018.
