During 6-8 April 2016, Mr. Apichart Chinwanno, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led Thai delegation to visit the Republic of Cuba, along with Mrs. Jitkasem Tantasiri, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency and representatives from private sectors.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the co-chaired with Mr. Marcelino Medina González, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, on the 1st Political Consultation meeting between Thailand and Cuba in Havana, the Republic of Cuba and also paid a courtesy call on Mr. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, to discuss on strengthening bilateral and multilateral dimension relations of both sides, as well as to deliver an invitation letter for official visiting Thailand from Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs. On this occasion, the private sector of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Ileana Nunez, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba and attended the trade seminar included business matching with the private sectors in Cuba.
In the meeting, both sides had a discussion on expanding relations, particularly in Trading and Investment. In addition, Cuba side would like to promote on hotel investment from Thai entrepreneurs, according to an increasing of foreign tourists, and an enhancing in Technical Cooperation and exchanged both expertise in the fields of Public Health, Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Cuba included an agriculture and tourism of Thailand. Both sides also had mutual engagement to expedite negotiation on bilateral agreement of Economy and Technical cooperation, as well as discussion on an international cooperation in multilateral framework of United Nations and G-77, in which Thailand serves as chairman of the groups.
