TICA Director-General led Thai Delegations to attend the Fourth Planning Committee Meeting on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Buenos Aires, Republic of Argentina

On 7 September 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Republic of Argentina held the Fourth Planning Committee Meeting on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Buenos Aires.  The Thai delegation was headed by Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency and the Argentine delegation was headed by Ms. Ana Ciuti, Director General of International Cooperation.  The purpose of the meeting is to review and consider the cooperation projects between Thailand and Argentina.
 
The results of the Meeting are as follows;
      1. Three finished projects are 
          - Pasture Utilization for Beef Projection System Project
          - Capacity of Technologies Applied to Apiculture and Valuation of Derivative Products and Marketing Project
         - Biosafety and Food Security for Genetically Modified Crops Project.
2. Seven continuing projects are 
         - Cooperation in Animal Health: Foot and Mouth Disease Project
         - Biodiversity Conservation and Protected Area Management Project
         - Training on Research Collaboration on Use of RNAi or related Techniques on Plant Biotechnology Project
         - Nanotechnologies for the Development of Drug Delivery System Project
         - Wineries Sustainable Energy: Homemade and Handmade Wines Project
         - Pest Management Project
         - Missing Migrants and Non Identified Human Skeletal Remains: exhumation and analysis skill development project
3. Two new projects proposed by both sides are
         - Potential Enhancement for Sustainable Soybean Production and Utilization Project
         - Genetic Variability for Sugar Cane and Ethanol Production Project
4. Both sides agreed;
        4.1 to abolish two projects; Collaboration on Fiber Crop Improvement in Thailand, and Technical and Human Development for Astronomical Research, as the interest of relevant agencies of both sides is not yet sufficient to carry out the projects. 
       4.2 to execute the cooperation projects under the modality of shared costs. Travel expenses to the territory of the other Party, per diem allowances for accommodation and food, as well as medical insurance expenses, will be borne by the Sending Party. Internal transportation and other domestic arrangements for the execution of projects will be borne 
by the Receiving Party.
       4.3 to select and publish the successful cooperation projects between Thailand and Argentina in three languages (English, Thai and Spanish).
5. The next Planning Committee Meeting will be held in Thailand in 2019. 
   
     The technical cooperation between Thailand and Argentina will support Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategy in the areas of competitiveness enhancement and human resources development since Argentina is abundant in science and technology which to share with Thailand in many areas, such as agriculture and renewable energy.
