On 28 February 2023, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of TICA virtually attended the Standing Committee Meeting of Colombo Plan’s Council on Administrative and Financial Matters held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Poj Harnpol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Sri Lanka and attended by committee members from 6 countries and Dr. Benjamin P. Reyes, Secretary-General of Colombo Plan. The meeting endorsed the Colombo Plan Biennial Budget for 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 with Thailand’s advice to administer the budget effectively.

Colombo Plan is a regional intergovernmental organization founded in 1951. The primary focus of its work is the development of human resources in the south and southeast regions of Asia. Thailand joined Colombo Plan in 1954. Currently Colombo Plan comprises 28 member countries. The Standing Committee is mandated to oversee the administrative and financial matters of the Colombo Plan. In 2023, Thailand is appointed as the Chair of the Standing Committee. The rotation is based on alphabetical order.
