On 7 May 2024, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), gave a presentation on “Role of Thailand International Cooperation Agency towards Climate Change” at the Joint Training Programme on Climate Change under the Thailand-Morocco Trilateral Cooperation Project via video conference. On this occasion, the Deputy Director-General outlined the role of international development cooperation in bringing technical knowledge of partner countries to promote Thailand’s goals and in sharing Thai expertise to assist other developing countries with their development in various sectors such as Agriculture and Food Security, Public Health, and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. She also shared successful stories of TICA projects, such as Friends From Thailand Programme, the Project on Promoting Climate Resilience in the Farming Communities of Cambodia, the Thai Rice NAMA Project, and the Arabica Coffee Project at the Doisaketpattana Agricultural Co-operative (Inthanin Drip Coffee: Thep Sadet).

This joint training programme on Climate Change is co-organized by TICA and the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) under the Thailand-Morocco Trilateral Cooperation Project with an aim to exchange an experience, best practices, and innovation on climate change between Thailand, Morocco, and representatives from African countries. There were 16 officials from climate change related agencies from 8 English-speaking African countries were participated in this programme. On this occasion, Thai expert from the Department of Climate Change and Environment gave a presentation on Thailand’s policy and initiatives towards climate change. Besides, the participants will learn about the Morocco policy on urban planning and clean energy innovation by taking part in study visits to Eco-City in Casablanca and the solar power plant in Marrakech.
