On 15 October 2026, Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed and held discussions with Mr. Devrin Jeck, Undersecretary of the International Cooperation and Development Division (ICADD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, who traveled to participate in the "Asia-DAC Dialogue on Development," an event co-hosted by TICA), the OECD Development Assistance Committee (OECD DAC), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) at the Montien Hotel Surawong, Bangkok.

The Malaysian representative expressed his wish to expand cooperation to further strengthen development cooperation with Thailand, particularly in human resource development for the Southern part of Thailand, knowledge and experience sharing, as well as the promotion of South–South and triangular cooperation to support sustainable development in the region and beyond.  Partners could be among ASEAN member states—notably Timor-Leste, which recently joined, and under the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD), a framework in which both countries participate.

Furthermore, appreciation was expressed to TICA for co-hosting—together with the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA)—the 2nd Round Table Meeting between Emerging Development Partners from ASEAN and Japan (EDPAJ) on October 9, 2026, in Bangkok.  This meeting provided an opportunity for emerging donor countries within ASEAN to discuss development cooperation among themselves, as well as in partnership with Japan.

The Director-General of TICA proposed to host the 9th Technical Cooperation Meeting between Thailand and Malaysia. This initiative aims to revive the consultative mechanism for development cooperation between the two countries; the 8th meeting was held over a decade ago, hosted by Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in 2015.
